TikTok Launches New AI Tools for Creators

TikTok has introduced a suite of new tools aimed at helping creators streamline their production process and expand their revenue potential — including AI-driven editing features that can automatically repurpose long-form videos into short clips, trend-based creative inspiration, and a more generous subscription revenue share.

 

To begin with, TikTok is rolling out a new AI-powered editing feature called “Smart Split,” designed to automatically clip, reframe, caption, and transcribe longer videos into multiple shorter segments.

 

As shown in the preview, Smart Split uses AI detection to identify natural breaks within a video, cutting it into neatly packaged clips ready for upload.

 

According to TikTok:

 

“To get started, creators can upload content over one minute long and select the parts they’d like to convert into shorter clips. Based on the selected part of the video, Smart Split can automatically choose a video length or creators can choose a specific length for the videos. Additionally, creators can choose from a range of caption formatting options and reframe the content into vertical clips.”

Once the clips are created, users can instantly select any of them to publish directly to TikTok.

 

While results will vary depending on the original footage, Smart Split could significantly reduce editing time, allowing creators to spend more energy on ideation and storytelling. It may also encourage creators to repurpose their livestream recordings and longer videos, maximizing the value of their content output.

 

In addition to Smart Split, TikTok is also launching “AI Outline,” a new creative aid that helps creators develop content ideas aligned with trending formats and topics.

 

As seen in early demonstrations, AI Outline lets creators input a topic and generate suggested titles, hashtags, hooks, and outlines — all informed by the most successful videos in that niche.

 

“AI Outline will break down the video into six parts that creators can customize. For instance, creators can lengthen or shorten the title, refine the hook, and the general script idea to make the video in their style. Once the outline is complete, creators can record the video and upload it on TikTok.”

 

This could prove invaluable for those looking to stay on top of emerging trends without spending hours analyzing what’s popular. Still, TikTok advises creators to keep watching and engaging with in-app content to better understand audience dynamics.

 

AI Outline is now available to creators aged 18 and over in the U.S., Canada, and select regions, with a wider rollout planned in the coming weeks.

 

Finally, TikTok has confirmed a major update to its creator subscription revenue share, increasing the maximum payout to up to 90% of profits through a new incentive structure.

 

Currently, creators receive a base 50% share of subscription revenue, with potential bonuses pushing that up to 70%, while TikTok retains the remaining 30%. Under the new model, creators in North America will now earn a base 70% share, with performance-based incentives allowing them to reach the full 90% threshold.

 

As TikTok explains:

 

“From October 1st, 2025, North American and Canadian creators will receive 70% of the revenue share (after app store fees). You will also have a chance to receive an additional 20% bonus, bringing the maximum profit-sharing to 90%. Keep an eye on your in-app notifications for details on when you can unlock this exciting new bonus opportunity.”

 

The new structure will likely involve performance challenges or specific goals that creators must meet to earn the additional 20% payout — a welcome move for those who invest heavily in building and sustaining their subscription communities.

 

Of course, all of this assumes TikTok remains operational in the U.S. beyond December, when the latest government-imposed sell-off deadline arrives. But assuming operations continue, this revenue shift could further motivate creators to strengthen their audience-building efforts on the platform.

 

TikTok subscriptions remain open to creators with at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views within the previous calendar month.

 

Altogether, these updates represent another significant step in TikTok’s ongoing effort to empower creators — providing smarter creative tools, streamlined workflows, and more meaningful opportunities to profit from their growing influence.
