Google has unveiled a new AI-powered experiment aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses produce more visually appealing and effective brand promotions. The tool, which can scan a company’s website to identify key branding elements, then uses that data to automatically generate a variety of creative assets and ads tailored to the brand’s identity.

Called “Pomelli,” the platform is the latest project to emerge from Google Labs, expanding the company’s suite of AI tools designed to enhance online marketing capabilities.

As Google explains:

“Enter your website, and Pomelli will analyze it and create a ‘Business DNA’ profile for your brand. By analyzing your website and existing images, Pomelli is able to automatically extract and understand your business’ unique brand identity. This profile includes your tone of voice, custom fonts, images and color palette.”

In addition to scanning your website, you can also provide a short brand description and any slogans or taglines you use. These inputs are incorporated into your Business DNA profile to produce campaigns that are more consistent and aligned with your brand’s messaging.

“Once your Business DNA is established, Pomelli generates tailored campaign ideas specifically for your business. This feature tackles the common pain point of coming up with fresh, strategic ideas, allowing you to quickly pick a campaign focus. If you have your own idea, you can type in a prompt to create content tailored exactly to your vision.”

Beyond campaign ideation, Pomelli is also capable of creating platform-specific promotional materials, optimized for different formats and ad placements, giving marketers ready-to-use visuals and copy for multiple social and digital channels.

It’s a potentially useful addition for marketers looking to simplify content creation — providing polished, AI-generated ad assets through a straightforward point-and-click interface.

However, businesses should exercise some caution. While AI tools like Pomelli can streamline workflows, recent studies suggest that consumers are increasingly sensitive to the overuse of AI-generated visuals, which can sometimes appear overly synthetic or impersonal. Additionally, growing concerns about the environmental cost of AI have led some major brands to limit or reconsider their use of such technologies.

Ultimately, it’s about how the technology is implemented. AI tools aren’t meant to replace human creativity or strategic thinking — at least not yet — but to complement them.

Viewed in that light, Pomelli could be a powerful asset, combining the efficiency of generative AI with human insight to make the ad creation process faster and more effective.

Google says Pomelli is launching today as a public beta experiment in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and will be available in English.
