At NewFronts 2025, Meta introduced a suite of new advertising updates aimed at enhancing brand performance, including upgraded tools for creator collaboration, expanded access to trending Reels, enhanced Partnership Ads, video ads on Threads, and more.

There’s quite a bit to unpack here—but if you're serious about boosting your campaign reach, these are updates worth paying attention to.

One key feature currently in testing is Instagram’s new Reels Trending Ads, which will allow brands to place their advertisements alongside popular Reels content, giving them a chance to align with what’s resonating most with users.

According to Meta:

“Brands can choose to have their ads appear alongside the top trending Reels overall, or within specific trending categories like beauty, sports, and more in the future.”

This concept closely mirrors TikTok’s “Pulse” ads, offering premium ad placement within the day’s most popular content. It’s a smart way to increase brand visibility and connect with audiences by aligning with trending, relevant clips.

In addition, Meta is bringing the spotlight on trends into its Creator Marketplace as well, with a new in-stream trends display designed to help brands and creators tap into what's gaining momentum in real time.

“Trends uses AI to pinpoint topics gaining momentum on Instagram Reels. These are then ranked using various metrics and paired with relevant Reels content and suggested creators.”

As illustrated in the example, the new Trends dashboard will offer a clear snapshot of each trending topic, along with direct links to related clips for deeper insight. Users can filter these trends by region, topic, and timeframe—24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days—making it easier to brainstorm creative ideas and identify ideal creators for potential partnerships.

Additionally, Meta is enhancing creator profiles within the Creator Marketplace by introducing new performance indicators that showcase how well creators’ past brand collaborations have delivered.

The new interface will now display key metrics such as hook rate and interaction rate, giving you better insights when reaching out to potential creators.

Meta is also bringing its AI-driven creator content recommendations to Facebook.

In March, Meta introduced content suggestions within its Partnership Ads Hub in Ads Manager. This feature identifies organic posts that mention your brand and are likely to perform well if used in paid campaigns—making it easier to find high-performing content worth amplifying.

Now, the same will come to Facebook, providing extra opportunities to creator collaborations.

Finally, Meta has confirmed that it is testing a Creator Marketplace API, which will open up more opportunities for businesses to find and collaborate with creators.

Additionally, Meta has introduced an update to its Partnership Ads, allowing brands to choose whether or not to display their brand handle on Partnership promotions.

As shown in the first example, Partnership Ads currently display the brand and collaborator handles at the top of the post. However, this will now become an optional feature, potentially making these posts appear more natural within the feed.

This change might also make the ads less obvious, as the small “Sponsored” label replaces the location tag as the primary indicator that it’s an ad. While Meta has observed that users tend to engage less with overtly labeled promotions, this move could be seen as a slight step back in terms of transparency.

In addition, Meta is experimenting with Facebook Live Partnership ads, introducing the ability to boost user-generated content, allowing advertisers to promote live videos created in collaboration with creators as partnership ads.

This will offer another opportunity to leverage the popularity of creators on the platform, as well as the high engagement of live streams, encouraging more creators to go live on Facebook.

Meta is also experimenting with video ads on Threads, building on its recent rollout of Threads ads for all businesses.

“Soon, a limited group of advertisers will test 16:9 or 1:1 video ad formats that appear between organic content in the Threads feed, providing businesses with a new way to connect with their audience.”

Threads video ads will autoplay as they appear in the feed and expand when tapped, featuring a CTA button at the bottom of the playback window.

In some respects, it seems like Meta might be pushing Threads ads a bit aggressively, especially since static ads were only recently introduced on the app. Video ads could potentially disrupt the user experience more. However, since users are already quite familiar with this type of advertising, it’s unlikely to cause any major negative effects, even in video format.

Meta recently shared that Threads now has 350 million monthly active users.

Lastly, Meta is launching AI-powered video expansion for Facebook Reels, which automatically enhances your video creatives by generating “unseen pixels” around each frame to increase the aspect ratio.

The option will make it easier to scale your campaigns across different formats, without having to film new content, though I would assume that results will vary, and some of those expansions won’t look as seamless as this.

A heap of new Facebook, IG, and Threads options to consider, which could factor into your planning.
