Google has just released its latest “Holiday 100” report, a curated look at the most trending gift ideas across multiple categories—each determined by search interest data on Google.
As shown in Google’s examples from the mobile app, the Holiday 100 compiles the most searched-for products across different segments. Each featured item also links directly to Google Shopping results, allowing users to browse and buy without leaving the app.
As Google explains:
“The Google Holiday 100 brings the year’s most sought-after products together into one list—perfect for gifting. Holiday 100 insights are based on U.S. Google Trends data from trends.google.com, measured and validated from May through September 2025 using Google Trends Explore and Google’s internal tools.”
In other words, the list doesn’t reflect the most searched items of the entire year, but rather those gaining strong momentum heading into the holiday shopping rush.
According to Google, for a product to make the list, it had to meet at least one of the following conditions during the measured period:
- Its search interest reached an all-time high.
- - It experienced a significant surge compared to past averages.
- - It displayed notable regional differences in U.S. search interest.
So, rather than showcasing what’s already dominating the market, the list offers a snapshot of what’s emerging—a useful directional signal for both shoppers and marketers watching for rising demand.
Google also adds a small but noteworthy disclaimer:
“Products featured across Holiday 100 editorial collections and categories may include branded merchant partnerships.”
Whether that subtly affects the impartiality of the list is open to interpretation—especially considering how many Google-branded products appear in the mix. Make of that what you will.
