Meta has quietly added yet another “new” feature — one that feels distinctly familiar to anyone who’s ever used TikTok.

Late last week, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri confirmed that the platform is introducing a “Watch History” option, giving users the ability to easily revisit videos they’ve previously viewed in the app.

As shown in the example screenshots, the new Watch History tab will appear under your profile’s Settings → Activity section, displaying a scrollable list of thumbnails for every video you’ve watched on Instagram over the past 30 days.

So, if you’ve ever tried to show someone “that one video” you loved — but couldn’t remember who posted it — this should finally solve that problem.

Mosseri explained:

“If you go to ‘Profile,’ and under ‘Settings,’ under your ‘Activity,’ there’s ‘Watch History’ now, so you can see every Reel that you’ve ever watched. You can sort it from oldest to newest, or newest to oldest, you can go to a specific date or date range, and you can even filter it down to a specific person or account that posted that Reel. Hopefully now, you can find that thing you were trying to find but couldn’t before.”

Well, to clarify — it’s not every Reel you’ve ever watched. The feature only tracks the last 30 days of activity. But still, it’s a welcome improvement for anyone who’s ever lost track of a clip they meant to revisit later.

TikTok has long offered a similar feature, and honestly, it’s one of the more useful parts of that platform. We’ve all had those moments where we scrolled past something — a funny video, an interesting creator, or maybe a product that actually looked worth buying — only to forget to save it. Then, hours later, you’re frantically searching for it, typing increasingly desperate keywords to no avail.

This new addition makes that experience a little less frustrating on Instagram. You’ll now be able to scroll through your personal watch history to quickly rediscover the content you’ve engaged with — no need to rely on vague memories or endless searches.

In essence, Meta is borrowing yet another proven idea from TikTok — but in this case, it’s a genuinely practical enhancement that aligns with how users actually interact with Reels.

It’s a small but valuable quality-of-life update that makes Instagram just a bit more intuitive. The feature is now rolling out as part of the latest version of the app.
