Meta Unveils AI-Powered Video Restyling Features Across Its Platforms

After showcasing its AI-driven video editing capabilities late last year, Meta is now officially rolling out the first of these tools. The new “Restyle” feature is now available through both Meta AI and Instagram’s Edits app, allowing users to dramatically transform the entire look and feel of their video clips.
As shown in these examples, the Restyle feature leverages AI to dramatically transform the appearance and context of your videos. Whether you want your content to resemble an animated movie or look like it was filmed underwater, the new AI filters can completely reimagine your visuals.
Meta explains:
“You’ll now be able to easily edit your short-form videos using a variety of preset AI prompts that can transform your outfit, location, style and more. It’s available in the U.S. and more than a dozen countries around the world.”
At this stage, users are limited to choosing from preset options—customizing clips using text prompts isn’t available just yet. However, Meta is actively developing additional AI-powered tools for even more flexible video transformations in the near future.
Currently, there are over 50 editing prompts available, allowing you to stylize up to 10 seconds of video for free—though only for a limited time.
That’s an important point. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has previously noted that while Edits is free for now, Meta may eventually introduce paid plans to offset the costs associated with advanced tools like AI editing.
For the time being, though, you can explore these prompts at no cost, both in the Meta AI app and within Instagram’s Edits platform.
Once you pick a preset prompt, Meta AI gets to work, transforming your video to match the selected theme. You might find yourself starring in a graphic novel, reimagined as a vintage comic book character. Or you could completely shift the tone of a video shot on a rainy Seattle day, adding a dreamy vibe with sparkles, pearlescent blurs, and soft focus. Want to feel like you’re in a video game? There’s even a filter for that, complete with neon lights and combat gear.
There’s plenty to explore, and it’s easy to see how many users will be eager to experiment with these new editing tools to see just how far they can push the creative limits.
Will this reshape how video content is shared on Instagram?
It’s likely to have a similar effect to Snapchat’s Lenses—some users will jump on the latest visual trends, while most will probably stick with their usual content style.
Because at the heart of it, social platforms are about genuine connection. And while reimagining your content through fantasy filters is fun and visually striking, it doesn’t always foster more meaningful interaction.
Still, just like with Lenses, expect to see viral effects make the rounds, as users join in on popular trends with their own takes.
No matter what, the feature is visually impressive, and it has the potential to boost creativity and engagement across Meta’s platforms.
