Instagram Unveils Artist-First Program Alongside New Creative Tools

Instagram is introducing a set of new sharing features, alongside launching a fresh campaign designed to showcase creativity within the app—led by a lineup of well-known music artists.

In addition, Instagram is upgrading its Notes feature in DMs, now allowing users to share songs directly from Spotify within their Notes. This adds another layer of music integration and expands how people express themselves in casual updates to close friends.

On top of these, Instagram has revealed it’s also experimenting with new ways for users to post quietly—sharing content to their profile without automatically pushing it to everyone’s feed. Alongside this, trial Reels are now being made available to all users.

These films are designed to ignite inspiration by showing how some of today’s biggest creative names found their voice—and their audience—through bold, personal expression.
That same spirit fuels Instagram’s new “Drafts” initiative, a program aimed at investing directly in up-and-coming creators, giving them resources to grow at pivotal points in their artistic path.
Through “Drafts,” Instagram will work with rising talents like Sailorr, Tyrell Hampton, Young Emperors, and Jake Fleming—offering not just funding, but also access to key networks, collaborative opportunities, and creative partnerships to help bring their ideas to life.
At the heart of it all, Instagram’s overarching goal remains clear: to build a platform where creators feel empowered to take bold creative risks, overcome personal hurdles, and bring their visions to life.
Of course, better monetization options wouldn’t hurt in motivating that push—and Instagram is actively working on that front too, expanding its suite of creator tools and income-generating features.
And to round out this latest batch of updates, Instagram is also introducing a new font for Stories and Reels, inspired by the handwriting of Rosalia—a subtle yet stylish nod to creative expression.
I’m not entirely sure how the new font ties into the broader push for creative freedom—but hey, it’s another option to play with.
Overall, this feels like a notable new direction for Instagram, one that shines a brighter light on creators and the thought process behind their work, with the goal of inspiring others to explore their own creative potential.
That could prove impactful—especially if it highlights how Instagram has helped creators connect with audiences and build a recognizable presence online.
As for the profile grid re-arranging feature, it feels somewhat disconnected from the rest of the campaign. But when viewed through the wider lens of creative control and self-expression, it does add another layer of personalization to the mix.
